Gloss It Up!

High-shine makeup looks were all over the runway this season. Many makeup brands have also began releasing uber-glossy lipglosses and your fav Youtube and Insta influencers have confessed to loving glossy lips and high-shine lids! I have began to see a trend- a shift away from super matte lips towards a glossy lip.

Now, I'm not saying that your fav matte lippy has gone out of style. Matte lipsticks are great for a whole bunch of reasons- they last for a very long time; are mostly budge proof and drink proof. BUT matte lipsticks can dry out your lips if you wear them too often and require loads of lip prep and lip care.

Because glossy lips are becoming more popular, I am seeing a greater shade range being offered. So now, you can get your dark, vampy matte shades in a gloss or creme finish. #winning.

The glossy makeup trend on the runway was not just about glossy lips, there was also loads of gloss used on eye lids and cheeks. Using a lip gloss on your eyelids provides a high-shine, wet-looking finish that screams fashion.

Some makeup artists mixed eyeshadow or makeup pigments with a mixing medium to create the glossy lid look on models. But pigments can be messy and mixing mediums can be expensive. I, however, wanted to try the glossy lid look because I'm all about the shine and glow. This is the look that I drew inspiration from:

Look at that shine! To recreate the look, I used the Hean Ultimate Lip glosses.

The great thing about the Ultimate lip glosses is that they are super pigmented and opaque but still really shiny.

I used the Ultimate Lip gloss in 202 Nude Carat and 203 Milky Rose. Personally, I love the way this came out! It was very easy to do (easier than regular eyeshadow that's for sure!).

All I did was:

  • Apply Milky Rose over my whole lid with the lip gloss applicator.
  • I then blended that shade into the crease and all the way up to my brow bone.
  • Next, I applied Nude Carat to the center of my lid. I really loaded this up to get the super glossy finish.

  • I also applied Nude Carat to my lips for that extra gloss.
  • Of course, no makeup look of mine would be complete without extra highlight!

I really loved this look and it was loads of fun to do!

Nafeesah also tried the glossy lid trend and of course, she was extra about it! Nafeesah used our Mattique lip glosses  and she used the shade 102 Muffin. Nafeesah went all out and did a huge glossy wing.

Here are the steps in picture form so you can easily recreate the look!

 Keep Shining.
